Working in sports has been quite a ride. Lots of early success at Bleacher Report, followed by the voluntary decision to step away and pursue drama school. About a year post-COVID, as I was holding down various sports gigs to get my feet back under me, an opportunity at Barstool Sports fell from the strange skies of LinkedIn.
Although that led to a very public layoff, I took it all in stride. Careers in sports media and the entertainment industry are notoriously nonlinear, often without much in the way of immediate gratification.
While it’s unwise to rest on laurels of any kind, I believe it’s important to savor some of the great moments along the way. Here’s a healthy helping of my best, latest sportswriting from Barstool Sports and Whiskey Riff.
